MENUMBOK: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor will announce the full list of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidates for the upcoming 17th Sabah State Election on November 12, three days before nomination day.

The Chief Minister, who is also GRS Chairman, confirmed the date when speaking to reporters after officiating the launch of the Kuala Penyu and Menumbok Sub-District Strategic Development Plan 2025–2035 in Menumbok on Thursday.

“We have already finalised the seat distribution. If other parties wish to announce their candidates earlier, that’s their right. GRS will make its official announcement on November 12,” he said.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor presents a symbolic key for the Rumah Mesra SMJ to eligible recipients during the handover ceremony at the Menumbok Town Market site on Thursday.

Hajiji expressed confidence that GRS will once again secure the mandate to govern Sabah, citing the coalition’s line-up of strong and winnable candidates across all constituencies.

“We are fielding candidates who can win, including in Kuala Penyu. I’ve already given a hint earlier, and we are confident of victory.

If we win, we will continue implementing the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 development roadmap to sustain progress for the people,” he added.

The Chief Minister also addressed the long-discussed proposal to build a bridge linking Labuan to mainland Sabah, saying the plan should be revisited with the Federal Government.

“This bridge is crucial not only to improve connectivity between Labuan and Menumbok but also to stimulate economic activity in Menumbok and Kuala Penyu,” he said.

The event also saw Hajiji officiating the handover of SMJ house keys, presentation of land gazettes, and the distribution of educational aid from the Limus Jury Foundation.
